The Animal Welfare League of Frederick County is honored to be a member of the Hendricks Boards and You Nonprofit Partnership.
According to the Humane Society, an estimated 6 to 8 million cats and dogs enter animal shelters every year. An estimated 3 to 4 million pets are put to sleep annually. Hendrick Boards aims to make a small, yet important, difference for shelter dogs and cats everywhere. Inspired by his shelter dog William, founder David Hendrickson started Hendrick Boards, an eco-friendly skateboard and apparel company, and created unique collections of clothing, accessories and boards that give back to animal shelters and pet adoption programs across the nation.
Every Hendrick Boards’ purchase triggers a donation to animal charities – from $2 for every accessory and $3 for every piece of apparel to $10 for every long board purchased. Donations stay in the community where the purchase is made: 75 percent is donated to local animal shelters (based upon the state of shipment) and 25 percent goes to national animal programs, particularly programs aimed at disaster relief for animals.
The collections at Hendrick Boards is eco-friendly and is as chemical free as possible, a statement against the chemicals once given to William. The hand-designed skateboards/longboards are made from sustainable bamboo and paints and stains are made using crushed plants and ground coffee. Most of the pieces of apparel are made from 100 percent organic cotton, eliminating all pesticides used in the growing and production process.
